KUALA LUMPUR: Former crime journalist, Gerald Ronald Krishnan, widely known as Ronnie Krishnan, died at 4am yesterday.
He was 66 years old.
Ronnie was regarded as one of the finest local crime journalists of the 1980s and 1990s.
A former colleague, Jahabar Sadiq, shared heartfelt condolences and cherished memories of Ronnie.
In a Facebook post, Jahabar praised Ronnie's captivating crime reports, which were marked by a unique storytelling style that garnered respect from peers and a dedicated readership.
"His beat was Seremban, where he scored many scoops late at night, early in the morning, and essentially 24/7," said Jahabar.
"He had a way with words, but his forte was his narrative of crime scenes," he added.
Jahabar recounted Ronnie's close ties with law enforcement, noting his knack for extracting the best stories from them.
"He occasionally joked about posing as an officer to obtain initial incident reports from constables
"Ronnie was such a great character, journalist, and friend. Gems like him won't come our way anytime soon.
"He will be missed as much as he is loved by all of us who knew him," said Jahabar.
Ronald's wake and visitation will be at the Church of The Good Shepherd (Wake Room) today from 2:30 pm to 10:00 pm, with the prayer service starting at 8:00 pm.
His funeral service will be held at 10am tomorrow, followed by the final rites at the Cheras Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Crematorium for cremation.
