THE first-ever Nibong Tebal Festival, set to take place from Jan 20 to 21, is gearing up to be a vibrant celebration of culture and art in Seberang Perai Selatan.

Organised by the Seberang Perai City Council in collaboration with the Jawi State Assembly Service Centre and supported by the Penang state government, this festival is expected to be a major attraction along Jalan Pasar Lama, Nibong Tebal.

With its unique 'street art performance' theme, the festival will showcase a variety of local and international performances and activities.

The council, on Facebook, said this approach aims to bring an array of artistic expressions directly to the Nibong Tebal community.

"The festival will have over 30 free activities and unexpected surprises for attendees. Highlights include performances by international artists Yoltic Atzin Lopez from Mexico and Alexandra Azzaro from Italy.

"Alongside these international acts, the festival will feature local cultural performances such as lion dances, shadow puppetry, chingay, and the Penang Dhol Blasters," it wrote.

Attendees, it said, can look forward to hands-on workshops, traditional games, and a Kombi Photo Booth.

"The festival will also feature a Food Truck Alley that will provide a diverse range of culinary delights."
