PETALING JAYA: Police have managed to trace a trail of movements related to the murder of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin through analysis of recently retrieved dashboard camera recordings from residents.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar confirmed these findings and emphasised the need for a more in-depth examination of the footage.

"While there are discernible movements, we must enhance the video quality to determine whether the figures captured are persons or other objects.

"Whether these involve residents or potential suspects, we await further clarification from the video analysis. We cannot disclose additional details," Hussein said when contacted today.

Hussein said the police have also sought assistance from the Irrigation and Drainage Department to address the water reservoir at the discovery site.

"We have enlisted the help of the Irrigation and Drainage Department to inspect the reservoir for any potential new evidence. As of now, no new findings have been reported.

"The police will continue to gather information and conduct thorough investigation to identify the suspect."

Regarding yesterday's examination in another block, Hussein highlighted that it forms part of a larger-scale screening process.

"Results from the mass DNA screening of residents at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, are anticipated within two to three days. A total of 228 DNA samples have been collected," he added.

The police Forensic Unit is actively pursuing the investigation into the sixth day at Idaman Apartment.

A contingent from Selangor police, accompanied by the Forensic Unit, arrived at the location at 11.45 am.

Their presence aims to intensify the investigation and discover new evidence or clues crucial to the case.

Personnel from the Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department are also on-site to assist the police in draining the water from the reservoir near the location where Zayn Rayyan's body was discovered on Dec 6.

Despite heavy rain, pumping operations commenced at 12.20pm.

Previously, it was reported the tragic death of Zayn Rayyan had been officially classified as a murder case following a detailed post-mortem that revealed injuries to the child's neck and body.

Zayn Rayyan's lifeless body was found in a water channel near a reservoir, approximately 200 metres from his residence in Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai, around 10 pm last Wednesday.
