KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government is not ruling out extending the e-Tunai Belia Rahmah next year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government will do its best to keep the initiative and will discuss the matter further in the coming year. "We will do our best to ease the burden of the people especially the students.

"The Customs will have a new chief so hopefully the income will also improve, same with the collection at LHDN (Inland Revenue Board).

"With improved income, InsyaAllah we can spend more," he said during dialogue session with the visitors of Madani government's One-Year Anniversary Programme in Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

The initiative was announced last year by Anwar with an allocation of RM400 million. Two million youths aged 18 to 20, received the RM200 credit.

Meanwhile, Anwar was also asked regarding the absence of Menu Rahmah food at certain institutions. He said that the Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin will look into the matter.

He also gave his assurance to improve internet facilities such as wireless internet connections (Wifi) at the university campus. "We will settle it next year," he added.

Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
