JOHOR BARU: A teenager was killed after being ejected from a car and thrown over a flyover following an accident at Jalan Skudai yesterday.

In the 6pm incident, Johor Baru Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh confirmed that the 18-year-old victim did not survive.

The incident unfolded when the Toyota Vios, driven by the victim's friend, swerved to avoid an unidentified car that entered its lane.

"Despite successfully avoiding the other vehicle, the car skidded on the rain-slicked roads, crashed into a divider, and overturned multiple times before eventually coming to a stop on the right shoulder of the road.

"Tragically, the impact of the accident resulted in the victim, who was the rear-left passenger, dying at the scene. The front passenger broke a leg.

"The driver and the rear passenger on the driver's side had minor injuries," he said in a statement today.

He added that police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
