KUALA LUMPUR: Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM) has implemented 31 anti-sexual harassment training programmes to provide understanding and awareness on the importance of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act 2022 (AAGS).

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the programmes, conducted through workshops, town halls and seminars, involved 1,570 participants from across the country to be trained as agents to disseminate knowledge and awareness about sexual harassment to the public.

She said the workshops received cooperation from various parties such as federal and state government departments and agencies, local authorities, as well as Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), volunteers and communities nationwide.

"ISM has also established cooperation with the Australian Institute of Social Relations (AISR) in Adelaide, Australia, which has received the participation of four ISM officers to enhance human capital capacity.

"ISM is the first government agency in the world to participate in training at AISR, which took place from October 22 to 28. Congratulations," she said at an appreciation ceremony for ISM strategic partners here today.

She said for the coming year, ISM will intensify efforts to expand its network of strategic collaborations internationally, especially with several educational and training institutions in the Southeast Asian region.

Meanwhile, Nancy welcomed the strategic cooperation between ISM, an agency under her ministry, with government departments, agencies, the private sector, and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) as it encourages interaction and strengthens networks.

"It also aims to assist in the development and improvement of ISM's policies, roles, functions, missions, and visions, especially for the long term.

"This cooperation is crucial not only for the success of ministry programmes but also to encourage diversity in decision-making and planning for the future of Women, Family and Community Development Ministry," she said. -- Bernama
