KEPALA BATAS: Private tahfiz centre, Ma'hadul Azhar, located at Jalan Pokok Sena here was partly damaged in a fire this morning.
The Kepala Batas fire and rescue station was alerted to the fire about 11.52am.
Operations officer Khairul Affendi Ariffin said the fire happened on the second floor, with damages estimated at 40 per cent.
He said the fire was brought under control about 12.21pm.
"No one was injured in the incident.
"At the time of the fire, there were four students and an ustaz in the next building.
"The ground floor is used as a house, while the top floor, the students' dormitory. Fortunately, no one was in at the time of the incident," he said.
Khairul Affendi said they were also assisted by firefighters from Kepala Batas, Tasek Gelugor, Penanti and Bertam.
The cause of the fire and losses are still being probed.
