ISKANDAR PUTERI: Within the first eight months of this year, the Johor Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Department held 735 Rahmah sales programmes, spending a total of RM4,357,623.

State Investment, Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Lee Ting Han (BN-Paloh), said the programme was an integral part of the broader Rahmah umbrella initiative, which received exceptional response from all segments of society.

"Between Feb 1 and Nov 15 this year, more than RM4 million was spent on the 735 Rahmah sales organised state-wide," he said in reply to Ng Yak Howe's (DAP-Bentaya) verbal question on the number of Rahmah sales programmes conducted across the districts within Johor, during the 15th Johor State Assembly, today.

He added that 850,000 households in the state benefitted from the programme.

Lee said the federal government, in the 2024 Budget, allocated RM200 million to expand and strengthen initiatives under the Rahmah umbrella.

Out of this allocation, RM150 million will be utilised for the Rahmah sales programme in the state, offering discounts or subsidies ranging between 10 and 30 per cent off market prices.
