KUALA LUMPUR: The police have summoned three individuals, including the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Director-General Maritime Admiral Datuk Hamid Mohd Amin, in connection with the investigation into a case of sexual harassment against a 39-year-old woman.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director of Bukit Aman, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said that they have recorded conversations with the victim, the suspect, and the suspect's special officer at the suspect's office.

"At this point, the case is in the final stages of investigation after we summoned and recorded statements from the victim, who is also the complainant, the suspect, who is also the Director-General of a government agency, and his special officer to complete the investigation.

"I confirm that the police have seized the mobile phone belonging to the Director-General for further investigation," he said in a press conference at Bukit Aman today.

Yesterday, it was reported that police may call the complainant who levelled sexual harassment accusations against Hamid, in the course of the ongoing investigation.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police have recorded Hamid's statement over a sexual harassment accusation.

MMEA, in a statement yesterday, said the dissemination of a police report lodged by a woman, who claimed she was sexually harassed by Hamid, was of a personal nature with its own motive.

The New Straits Times earlier reported that a woman lodged a police report alleging sexual harassment against the director-general of an enforcement agency.

The 39-year-old financial consultant claimed she had initiated contact with the individual in November last year when he was serving in another capacity within the same agency, in order to discuss potential investment prospects.
