KUALA LUMPUR: Chief Secretary of Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, has rallied secretaries and director-generals across ministries to take decisive action in halting underperforming contractors.

In his speech text read by the Prime Minister Department's Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) director-general Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, Zuki said any decision made has to be meticulous and precise to ensure smooth project executions.

"The secretaries and director-generals should be ready to confront present challenges, deciding whether to continue or terminate specific programmes/projects or discontinue services of underperforming contractors.

"Effective supervision and monitoring are essential, conducted with integrity and precision to facilitate prompt action,"

"In addition, synergy and cooperation from the entire government machinery at the federal and state levels are also critical success factors that should be strengthened," he said.

Mohd Zuki also said the high commitment of all the secretaries and director-generals in managing programmes and projects without allowing personal interests to conflict with their public duties was commendable.

"In conclusion, on this occasion, I would like to express my highest appreciation and gratitude to the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), all parties, and the dedicated personnel who have shown commitment and sincerity in ensuring the success of the National Development Award 2023 (APN 2023)," he added.

At the award ceremony, 21 ministries, departments and agencies were honoured for their outstanding performance in implementing national development projects.
