KUALA LUMPUR: The auditor general will be probing the recent Public Accounts Committee report related to the defective Covid-19 ventilators supplied to the government.
Auditor General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi told newsmen that the matter was now under the National Audit Department's attention.
"It is already included in our AG (Auditor General) dashboard.
"We will follow up with the relevant ministries and agencies (and) the matter will also be brought to the cabinet," she said when met after the launch of the National Integrity Month at the Sime Darby Convention Centre here.
The event was launched by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali.
PAC revealed yesterday that no action can be taken over the issue as there was an absence of a written agreement between the Health Ministry and Pharmaniaga Logistics Sdn Bhd (PLSB).
In the report published on its website, PAC said PLSB was also instructed to make advance payments for ventilators following its existing relationship with the ministry, despite not having experience and expertise in medical equipment procurement.
Due to the extraordinary circumstances faced at that time, the discussions, assessments and decisions related to the procurement of ventilators had to be conducted through the WhatsApp messaging application due to the constraints imposed during the Movement Control Order (MCO), the report said.
