KUALA LUMPUR: Participants of rallies and demonstrations in the federal capital have been advised to follow all regulations, including road rules.

City police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said police had identified several people who have attended recent rallies who carried banners on their motorcycles.

"Carrying and waving banners and flags while riding a motorcycle is against the law because it can endanger other road users. So, we will carrying out operations around the capital to ensure that everyone follows the law, especially in terms of road rules," he told reporters after attending the city police monthly gathering at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

Allaudeen said there were several quarters who are holding gatherings around the city this week and in recent times.

"We are aware of the freedom to hold gatherings, but all must follow the law. There are some (organisers) who have informed us of their intentions and there are some who have not," he said.

The federal capital and other cities have recently seen several rallies and demonstrations in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

Tonight, one such rally will be held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.

This is expected to be attended by several governtment leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, fresh from his visits to Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt, where he spoke to the leaders of the countries and other nations about the need for aid for Gazans.

On tonight's rally, Allaudeen said police had made all the necessary preparations to ensure that everything goes without a hitch.
