KLUANG: A 16-year-old vocational college student was killed and his friend, 18, injured in a crash at Km59 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang near Felda Ulu Penggeli last night.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mod Noh said the two were believed to have been racing illegally when they rammed into the rear of a Perodua Myvi.
"Initial findings indicate that all three vehicles were travelling from Kluang towards Kota Tinggi.
"Upon approaching the scene, the young riders, suspected to have been racing, lost control of their motorcycles and crashed into the rear of the Perodua Myvi," said Bahrin, adding that the crash took place about 10.15pm.
The Myvi, driven by a 33-year-old man, had slowed down to make a right turn when the accident happened.
The 16-year-old teenager succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while his friend broke his right leg and had facial wounds.
The car driver escaped unharmed.
