KUALA LUMPUR: Not all ministries' wishes for the 2024 Budget could be met, but improvements to it will be made by the middle of next year, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Describing the budget as "comprehensive", Zahid said no group was left behind and it was one step closer to ending absolute poverty in the country.

"There will be studies to the budget, and of course improvements can be done. We are not perfect... surely there are some shortcomings that would need to be rectified."

Zahid said this after the tabling of the 2024 Budget by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Parliament today.

Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, also thanked Anwar for focusing on all civil servants, including pensionable and non-pensionable former staff.
