KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Anthony Loke refused to entertain any speculations related to the sudden decision by MYAirline Sdn Bhd to suspend its operations.

He was asked to respond on the claims that one of the shareholders was a scammer which resulted in the operations of the airline halting abruptly early today.

He said that he had met with the company directors and they also had made a courtesy visit to the ministry a few months ago.

"I do not want to speculate, let the police investigate.

"I do not know about their shareholders, let alone even met them.

"But the directors are well known in the ministry. They are not owners.

"Maybe this was their strategy to give an impression that they are experienced in the airline industry," he said in at the parliament lobby today.

Also present was Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim.

The airline company suspended its operations in wee hours of today until further notice, without mentioning any timeline for the resumption of operations.

MYAirline said its flights are suspended pending its shareholder restructuring and recapitalisation of the airline.
