KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said the water leakage in the open space area of MRT Muzium Negara station was due to a drainage channel on the station's roof becoming obstructed by plastic debris carried by strong winds from the nearby area.

In a statement today, the operator of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Kajang Line, also apologised to commuters for the inconvenience and discomfort experienced due to the incident.

It said that the technical and operational staff acted promptly to clear the blocked drainage channel and resolve the water leakage problem.

"The cleanup operation was successfully completed within just 30 minutes.

"It is worth noting that all drainage channels and facilities in the area are subjected to regular maintenance on a weekly basis.

"However, the recent spell of strong winds in the region led to debris from the surrounding area blocking the drainage channels."

This incident follows a previous report of water leakage at KL Sentral Station, which was shared in a viral video on social media. The incident occurred around 5:30pm on Oct 10.

The company also reassured the public that their operations team would continue to monitor the situation, especially during periods of unpredictable weather, which have been more frequent in recent times.
