At about 4.57pm a team of 23 firemen led by Operations Commander Imam Bukhari Susami arrived at the scene and found that the storage battery in the communication panel room was on fire.

"Two fire engines, three tankers and other firefighting equipments were also used to douse the fire at the MRT station. Firemen managed to bring the fire under control at about 6.26pm before it was completely doused at 7.04pm," he said.
