KUALA LUMPUR: MCA is calling on DAP to explain the concept of Malaysian Malaysia created by the party so that it no longer contributes to racial tension.

Its vice president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said that the party also needs to admit its mistake to the people if the concept of Malaysian Malaysia is in line with the party's promise to abolish the Bumiputera quota and restore the use of English as official language and others.

"If the concept of Malaysian Malaysia is in line with the struggles of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, then we should educate and explain the concept to everyone in the context of the diversity of cultures, race and country.

He said that all the concepts brought by DAP proved to be just propaganda that incites hatred against the component parties of the Alliance party under the leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman and also Barisan Nasional (BN).

"DAP made a number of different declarations in an effort to cover up their demands which were unreasonable, untimely and out of sync with today's political sentiments.

"In fact, DAP declared its commitment to uphold the struggle of Tunku Abdul Rahman and the Federal Constitution," he said.

He added that it was MCA's commitment that DAP copied and due to DAP's promise for equal rights, MCA lost more than half of the parliamentary seats contested during the 1969 General Election, which in turn led to the downfall of the Alliance party and Tunku Abdul Rahman.

The Malaysian Malaysia concept was previously used by the former Singapore prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew and the People's Action Party (PAP) to oppose the government under the leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman and referred to Article 153 of the Federal Constitution.

The concept concerns the privileges given to the Malays and Bumiputeras to participate in the public service, the granting of public scholarships and admission to public educational institutions as well as the granting of trade licences.
