KUANTAN: Pahang has welcomed at least 15 Merdeka babies today.

State Health director Datuk Nor Azimi Yunus said 10 of the babies were boys and the remainder were girls.

All, he added, were in good health.

"The first Merdeka baby was born in Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) at 12.09am, a baby boy weighing 2.94kg.

"All went through normal delivery except for one where the vacuum extraction delivery method had to be used," he said in a statement.

Dr Nor Azimi said HTAA recorded the largest number of deliveries with eight, followed by Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh with four.

"Kuala Lipis Hospital, Pekan Hospital and Sultanah Hajah Kalsom Hospital in Cameron Highlands each recorded one birth as of 11am today.

"Congratulations to all the parents who welcomed their babies on National day," he said.
