KUALA LUMPUR: The developer of three proposed developments in Taman Kelab Ukay, Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang, has defended the project, saying it has carried out due diligence to get approval, including conducting a Social Impact Assessment (SIA).

A spokesman for Petaling Tin Bhd, the parent company of developer Lembah Langat Development Sdn Bhd, said the projects received approval from the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and were supported by the Selangor Environmentally Sensitive Areas Development Committee (JTPKSAS).

The company denied claims by Taman Taman Kelab Ukay residents that they were not invited to a SIA meeting at the DePalma Hotel in 2019.

"We even held a focus group discussion for the SIA in 2019. For the focus group discussion, we were not required to invite all residents, only the residents association heads.

"Any copies of the documents are with the MPAJ. They issued the approval according to the procedures and our plan was even approved by JTPKSAS," a company representative said, adding that the project had gone through several amendments for two years before receiving approval.

The representative said the project was not due to start soon as the company had yet to submit the building plan.
