BENTONG: The Pahang government will identify suitable aid to be provided to the wife and children of Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali, a state government servant, who was among 10 people who perished in the Elmina aircraft crash in Shah Alam on Aug 17.

State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said apart from looking into the welfare of the next-of-kins, he will also propose that Idris be presented with a recognition for his services.

"I will meet and raise the matter to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail. Idris had served in the Pahang civil service sector as the Raub district Islamic Religious Office enforcement unit head.

"Idris has been on unpaid leave since early this year to serve as the special officer to the Pahang state executive council member Datuk Seri Johari Harun who was also killed in the same crash last week," he said.

Fadzli said Idris who had provided endless services and done a lot for the community deserves to be appreciated by the Pahang government.

Meanwhile, Fadzli described Idris, whom he fondly calls 'Ustaz Deris' as not only a friend whom he knew through politics but a genuine individual who spoke his mind and gave advice to overcome weaknesses for him to serve as a state executive council member.

"In politics, a lot of people will only say good things so that they will not hurt our feelings but Idris was different... he was frank and his words always gave me encouragement, and served as a reminder to serve the people better," he said.

In a Facebook posting, Fadzli wrote besides losing his collegue Johari in the air crash, not many were aware that he had also lost a close friend Idris, who served as Johari's special functions officer.

"Idris is an old friend whom I always exchanged views with all these years. We became closer when he was stationed at Wisma Sri Pahang in Kuantan to assist Johari. Those at the exco's office located at level seven of Wisma Sri Pahang know I am close with Idris.

"Each time I am at my office, I will tell my personal assistant to call Idris to discuss and exchange views on various matters. I am saddened as this routine will not happen anymore...he left a lasting impact on me," he said.

Idris was killed after the aircraft he was on crashed in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam on Aug 17.

He was travelling with seven others including Johari and two crew members in the six-seater Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) from Langkawi to Subang Airport when the ill-fated crash occurred about 2.45pm.

Idris had accompanied his employer, Johari, to attend a meeting in Langkawi.

The crash had killed all eight people onboard and two road users. All the victims have been buried.
