KUALA LUMPUR: A section of the three-storey Bandar Mahkota Cheras (BMC) Mall collapsed from an estimated height of 20 metres to the ground floor yesterday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Command Centre said they received a call about the incident about 12.37pm and no casualties were reported.

"The incident involved a plaster ceiling that fell from approximately 20 metres above and landed in the centre of the shopping mall.

"The fire department has inspected the mall and no one was injured in the incident," it said.

The mall's management issued a statement on their Facebook page, saying that what happened was an isolated incident and it did not affect the structure of the building.

They said the overall structure is still stable.
