BATU KAWAN: Karnival Jom Heboh at Penang Stadium here is continuing to draw visitors in the thousands.

The hot weather did little to deter people from thronging the 145 exhibition booths at the carnival.

New Straits Times Press (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman said the people in the state should not miss the opportunity to experience the excitement of the carnival that ends today.

"At this event, NSTP features a Dinoland booth. The entrance fee is only RM20 for the whole family. They will also be able to get a free copy of the 'New Straits Times', 'Berita Harian' and 'Harian Metro', as well as bottled drinking water, souvenirs and a chance to win lucky draw prizes.

"For the last day today, we will hold a lucky draw. The main prize is a 42-inch Android TV," he said.

Other booths include Studio Tonton Drama Sangat (TV3, TV9, Tonton), Bulletin FM, OH BULAN and VOCKET.

Carnival sponsors — Baba's, Julie's, Mr Bentong, Himalaya and Enrico's — are offering products for as low as RM10 each.

Carnival-goers can also meet and take pictures with their favourite celebrities.

A visitor, Nurul Hidayah Hassan, 29, said that she has been longing to go to the carnival for a long time.

"I like to walk around and visit the exhibition booths, and I can also shop for food and drinks that are sold at lower prices.

"Each item is sold at RM10, which is hard to find anywhere else. At the same time, you can relax and have fun at booths such as Studio Tonton Drama Sangat," she said.

Azhari Abdul Rahman, 40, from Parit Buntar in Perak, said he took advantage of the weekend to visit the carnival with his family.

"Apart from the sale of goods, there are agencies which have set up booths here such as the Employees Provident Fund."

Visitors can also participate in street football, boria performances and a talent contest for a chance to win exciting prizes.

Mascots of popular children's shows like 'Ejen Ali', 'Mina Mila' and 'Little Ammar' are also present.

Music fans will be able to catch a string of performances by artistes at Konsert Jom Heboh tonight.
