KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil reaffirmed the ministry's vow to keep a tight leash on attempts to stir public uneasiness by spreading "negative" videos online during the upcoming state elections.

Last year, Fahmi was quoted saying the ministry had investigated an increase in videos with contents deemed as extreme during the GE15 campaign period.

"We know the perpetrators, those responsible, (those) involved. Authorities are further investigating reports (on those allegedly spreading such negative videos).

"I'm sure everyone is ready to help to ensure it doesn't happen again.

"My commitment is to make sure what has happened in the 15th general election ((GE15) will not recur during the state polls in the six states, tentatively slated to happen either in July or August," said Fahmi in his speech at the Surfs Up digital literacy summit held here.
