KLUANG: A 16-year-old girl is believed to have run away from home to Ipoh, Perak.
Suhana Murah, 44, said Nurybalqis Nur Ain Mohd Bahrim she failed to return from school at about 3pm yesterday.
She said her third child voiced her intention to quit school a few weeks before the incident and that she may be a little upset after she was reprimanded for talking on the phone until 3am.
"Our efforts to call her failed because she had blocked all our phone numbers.
"However, Alhamdulillah this morning, she responded to a WhatsApp message and a phone call from her teacher and said she had arrived in Ipoh at about 6 am after travelling there by bus.
"I believe she did this because she was upset when she was reprimanded for spending too much time on the phone with her boyfriend whom we do not know," said Suhana.
She said at first she though Balqis was late to return from school because she had an assignment at the library.
"I was shocked when the teacher said Balqis was absent from school.
"Her classmates also said that Balqis told them that she wanted to go to Perak on Friday.
"This is very worrying for my family because she had never did anything like this before. In fact, our relationship is just fine," said Suhana.
She said according to witnesses, Balqis was last seen at a self service laundry shop near the school on the morning she went missing.
She said her daughter was acting normal and is a quiet girl who is close to her two younger sisters aged three and five and her eldest sister.
"Myself, my husband and our youngest child are on our way to Ipoh to find Balqis, so hopefully everything will go smoothly and we will find our daughter," said Suhana.
Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Nor confirmed that a police report on the missing was received yesterday.
He said an investigation is on going to find the girl and to identify the persons responsible for her disappearance."
