KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens who were expecting Tol Rahmah to be in place throughout the festive period took to social media to lament missing out on toll-free travel on the first and second days of Hari Raya.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on April 18 that toll-free travel would be available on 33 highways nationwide starting from April 19 to 21, and on April 24.

The move was welcomed by Malaysians, but some Netizens were unaware that usual toll fares would be imposed on the first and second days of Hari Raya.

Some assumed the toll exemptions would still be valid on April 22 and 23, making it easier for them to travel during their Hari Raya visits, and a few were under the impression that there would be toll-free travel on April 25 as a large number of people were planning to return home on the fourth day of Hari Raya.

In a TikTok video posted by user @aleppstory, a man wearing a pink Baju Melayu who was en route to Seremban, Negri Sembilan from Alor Star, Kedah, expressed disappointment and pondered his 'good' fortune after finding out that he had missed the toll exemption by one minute on April 25.

The man appears to be sitting by the roadside nearby a toll booth in the video, which has received more than 410,000 views in less than 24 hours.

Similar behaviour was captured in a video of a woman complaining to her friends in a car while exiting the Sungai Besi toll booth.

The video, which was uploaded by TikTok user @winda_zulkifli, received over 350,000 views in less than a day and showed the moment she missed out on the Tol Rahmah initiative by just a second at 12am on April 25.

The woman and her friends were frustrated with the exit price displayed on the toll payment board, as they hoped that it would still be free.
