KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian family recently had a disappointing holiday experience in Fraser's Hill after booking a stay at a hotel online.

In an 18-second video shared on TikTok, user Unaacoo (@unaghafar) detailed the "unpleasant experience" she and her family had.

The video drew attention to an abandoned-looking building situated on an uphill slope in Fraser's Hill.

The clip, which has garnered over two million views, was recorded during what she described as her family's "disappointing road trip" in February.

"We had booked a hotel stay online but found that the online reviews did not reflect the reality upon arrival," she wrote.

Despite the owner's claims that the hotel was beautiful and packed with visitors, @unaghafar said she and her family found the opposite to be true.

"It took us two hours to get here, and we did not pass any cars along the way," she wrote.

"My family almost cancelled our reservation at the last minute, but we ultimately decided to switch to a room on the ground floor," she added.

The name and exact location of the hotel were not revealed.

Malaysians who have travelled to Fraser's Hill shared similar experiences in the comment section of the TikTok video.

Ashah (@ashahahmad_) vowed never to return to the area after only staying there for a night.

"I only slept there for a night and caught a fever for a week. I will never return to Fraser's Hill again," she commented.

Another TikTok user, @krzshshsh0, said: "I used to sleep with my family with all the lights on. At around 3 am, we saw a black shadow on the other side of the building."

Mimie (@mimiemdnor) also shared her unsettling experience at the hotel, admitting that it was a scary place.

"I struggled with insomnia throughout the night," she said, recalling a disturbing incident of someone knocking on her door at 2am.

"I also heard the sound of people running across the hallway, which made it impossible for me to get a good night's sleep."

Many believe that the distressing state of the area has worsened since the Covid-19 pandemic started.

The video, uploaded by @unaghafar on Feb 25, has garnered significant attention on TikTok, with over 105,000 likes and 1,900 comments to date.
