KUALA LUMPUR: Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli hopes that his predecessor Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed will have the chance to continue imparting his knowledge on issues pertaining to the ministry.

The PKR deputy president said he was pleased to continue the initiatives made by Mustapa.

He said they shared the same academic background, which is professional training in economics and finance.

"We have a similar passion in initiatives to end poverty and aid the underprivileged too," he said in a Facebook post today.

Mustapa had paid a visit to the ministry on Monday.

Rafizi, who has held the position since December, said when he was chosen to serve as the economy minister, it left him speechless due to the huge responsibility of the duty.

"It is important to preserve the good that has come before us.

"It is great if we leave the ministry in a better shape and the advantages are felt by many individuals when it is time for us to move on."

He also wished that the link between him and Mustapa would be precisely the same for him with the future Economy Minister.

He thanked Mustapa for his nearly three decades of dedication to the people as their representative.
