SHAH ALAM: The Selangor State Assembly today declared the Batang Kali state seat as vacant, following the six-month absence of its assemblyman.

The Batang Kali state seat, which was held by Harumaini Omar from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air, was declared vacant after the assemblyman did not attend any state sittings since July 28, last year.

Selangor State speaker Ng Suee Lim said the seat was vacated according to Article LXIX of the Constitution of the Selangor Government 1959.

The matter will be relayed officially to the Election Commission shortly.
