MERSING: Heavy rain and rough seas did not stop the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), Mersing Maritime Zone from its mission to deliver food aid to Pulau Tinggi, yesterday.

Pulau Tinggi located off the coast of Mersing was cut off by heavy seas and inclement weather which has been battering Johor for the last few days.

Mersing Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Suhaizan Saadin, said the Perkasa 44 boat was deployed to deliver 56 food supply packs to the residents of the island.

"Heavy rain and rough seas did not hinder the MMEA which is always in a constant state of readiness to join the mission of assisting the local community.

"A total of 16 rank and file personnel were involved comprising various agencies including from the District Office Mersing, Mersing Civil Defence Force, and Mersing Social Welfare Department.

"Also present was Mersing District Chief Assistant Officer, Mohd Amirza Misnadi, Mersing District Assistant Officer, Muhammad Zulfaiz Manhad, representatives of agencies and sub-district heads," he said in a statement.

The MMEA he said also thanked the Mersing District Police Station, the Mersing Fire and Rescue Station, and the Mersing Civil Defence Force for participating in the mission.
