HULU SELANGOR: Despite the deployment of two ground-penetrating radars (GPR), rescuers of the Father's Organic Farm landslide had no luck in recovering any body today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said the two high-technology devices had helped to narrow down the search areas.
"GPR detected 14 interest points today and we started the digging after the machines mark the sites. It really helps to narrow down the search area.
"However, after digging we did not find any body," he told reporters at the search and rescue (SAR) ground zero here today.
Norazam revealed that 11 bodies were found using excavators on the first day and another three were found using the machines the next day.
"The bodies were buried 0.9 to 1.5m below the soil, we managed to dig out 11 on the first day and three on the second day.
"For the remaining bodies, we either saw their hands, legs or they were stuck between tree debris," he said.
Norazam said the SAR operation was halted for an hour between 4.30pm and 5.30pm after heavy rain.
"However, the SAR has resumed and is expected to carry on till 4am tomorrow, but that will also depend on the weather.
"The fourth day SAR is scheduled to start at 8am tomorrow," he said.
Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said police had cross- checked the vehicle registration numbers of the cars at the site to identify victims.
"There were seven cars found at the scene, we had cross-checked with relevant authorities; they are still under investigations."
At press time, 61 victims were brought out alive after the Friday early morning landslide, 24 were confirmed dead and nine still missing.
