BATANG KALI: Rescuers are ramping up efforts to comb through the debris of the landslide which devastated campsites at the Father's Organic Farm here.

Three more excavators are reportedly being deployed to the scene to aid rescuers with the search for the nine remaining victims of the disaster.

The authorities had earlier tonight deployed a sixth excavator at the site to dig through 450,000 cubic meters of earth brought down by the landslide.

Since the search and rescue (SAR) operation began yesterday, 24 bodies have been found.

A total of 61 victims have been rescued.

The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department had earlier installed sensors at the landslide area to detect soil movement.

This was after the department's director, Datuk Norazam Khamis, warned that the site may experience further landslides.

After excavating 40 per cent of the landslide area, Norazam admitted that the odds of finding more survivors were "very slim."

Earlier, Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Suffian Abdullah said the SAR operations will continue until dawn, after which the search will resume at 9am.
