BATANG KALI: The remains of a woman and child locked in an embrace were among the latest to be found in the debris from a landslide which hit the Father's Organic Farm campsite here today.

The two were the 17th and 18th victims to be found, with another body also recovered at 5pm.

To date, rescuers have recovered a total of 19 bodies, four of them children, from the campsites.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said so far, 61 survivors were rescued from the scene.

Two sustained injuries and were sent to the hospital for treatment.

Fourteen people are still missing.

The area is understood to comprise several campsites. Norazam said the search is now focused on the Farm View and Riverside sections of the campsite.

He said the search and rescue (SAR) operation, involving more than 700 personnel from various agencies, would continue round the clock.

"Our men are on rotation, there are teams that are focusing on SAR and there are also teams monitoring soil movement.

"Soil movements were detected between 7am and 9am. We will stop the operation when we detect soil movement and bad weather. We hope to continue the operation till we find all the remaining 14 victims," he said.

He said 40 victims were at Sector A, Hillview when the landslide occurred, 14 were at Sector C Riverside and the remaining were at Sector B, Farm View.

He added that the first 16 bodies were retrieved from the Hillview section while another three were from Riverside.

Asked whether it would be difficult for the family members to do identification, Norazam said from the bodies that were found had no severe injuries found on them that would hamper identification.

Meanwhile, Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said all 94 victims were Malaysians.

Suffian said family members can make identify the victims at Sungai Buloh Hospital or at the operations base at Batang Kali.

"Police personnel are also available to help the victims on questions over the identification process or the landslide situation."
