KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed his condolences to the Indonesian government and people over the recent deadly earthquake which claimed the lives of 56* people and injured hundreds others.

On his Facebook page, the Pakatan Harapan chairman expressed sadness over the deadly earthquake in Indonesia's West Java province and hoped that the citizens remain alert for aftershocks.

"I express my condolences to neighbouring country Indonesia that has just faced an earthquake disaster in Cianjur region with a magnitude of 5.6 that has now claimed more than 50 lives."

"The number of victims is expected to rise further"

"We in Malaysia would like to mourn and pray for the affairs of the Indonesian government to be eased and I really hope that Indonesian citizens will remain alert to the aftershocks."

He also asked Malaysian peoples to pray for the people of Cianjur.
