KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Barisan Nasional is urging the authorities to immediately investigate the Pas state government over allegations that the latter distributed money to the people during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign period.

State BN chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said said it had instructed division and state legislative assembly area Youth heads to lodge reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) starting today.

He said distributing money to the people during the campaign period was abuse of power and against the rules and regulations of the general election.

"Pas seems really desperate if it is resorting to such underhanded tactics, including distributing money, i-OKU, i-Pencen, RM600, and i-Belia, during the campaign period.

"Such allocations are not included in the state government's budget and it was never raised nor discussed during the budget tabling," he said during a meet-and-greet at the Hardcore Poor Housing Programme at Kampung IKM in Besut earlier today.

Ahmad said only the allocations for the i-Fitri and i-Mahasiswa assistance programmes were included in the tabling of the state government's budget.

"The original allocation of RM20 million was bolstered with an additional amount of RM30 million, totalling RM50 million.

"We are also asking the MACC to use its jurisdiction and nullify the participation of Pas candidates in the upcoming general election."

Ahmad said the people's support for BN was increasing thanks to many former supporters and members of other parties joining the coalition.

"During the campaign period at almost every state legislative assembly area, the people who used to support other political parties are now joining BN and supporting us instead."
