KAJANG: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has resolved 100 per cent of complaints it received last year.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said a total of 27,328 complaints were received by KPDNHEP throughout 2021.

"Of that number, 100 per cent of public complaints were investigated and successfully resolved by the ministry.

"We have put in place a number of operations that have doubled the effect on the growth of domestic trade and consumer protection, including Ops Suri, Ops Ria, Ops Menu, Ops Catut, Ops Rantai, and others.

"It is only due to our members' efforts and collaborations that all targets were successfully met," he told reporters at the parade ceremony held in conjunction with the 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Enforcement Science Course at the Maktab Penjara Kajang, here today.

Also present were Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid and the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof.

Nanta said that in 2021, a total of 864,973 premises were inspected nationwide.

From the inspections, 10,586 investigation papers were initiated for various offences with a total seizure value of RM36.15 million.

Over the same period, RM6.24 million in compounds were imposed with fines totaling RM1.66 million issued.

Nanta said as of June of this year, KPDNHEP had received a total of 6,706 complaints.

"Of the total number of complaints, 89.61 per cent have been successfully resolved, while the remainder are in the process of being resolved," he said.

Nanta also said that based on statistics, a total of 489,567 premises across the country have been inspected.

"From the total number of inspections, 6,457 investigation papers for various offences with a seizure value of RM25.94 million were initiated.

"Meanwhile, compounds imposed for the same period numbered RM3.33 million, with total fines coming up to RM167,530," he said.
