PUTRAJAYA: A new website has been launched to honour mothers for their sacrifices and to educate them on their rights, assist single mothers and ensure greater women empowerment.

Initiated by Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, the new website called "Mothering" aimed at helping and recognising the sacrifices made by mothers' to raise their families.

"Being a mother myself, I understand what it takes to look after your family and the sacrifices a woman has to make to keep them happy.

"Despite being a minister, I make it a point to ensure my duties as a mother are never neglected because the family is of utmost importance and we must always make time for our loved ones," she said in a statement.

Zuraida said she had constantly been fighting for greater women representation, especially for women in politics and although the numbers have improved, there was still more to be done.

As a politician, she said it had always been a priority to also ensure a strong connection with her constituents and the people at large.

"Many women out there are struggling and facing uphill tasks to juggle their jobs, families and other commitments.

"We must never forget that women and children need strong support, love and care to get by in this challenging world and I hope to do my best to assist them in every way I can," she said.

"Mothering is what will ultimately move us from being weak to being strong. Mothering our community, our environment, and our world is what will make our planet a better place for all of us.

"A mother is someone who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take," she added.

According to her statement, the website will also include information on workers' rights, economic rights, environmental sustainability and also other updates.
