KUALA LUMPUR: Works to repair damage by erosion at a main drain along Jalan Bukit Antarabangsa started yesterday and is expected to be completed by June 26.

Ampang Member of Parliament Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council had appointed a contractor on April 8 and the repair works are estimated at RM173,389.00.

"MPAJ received a complaint on the incident on Jan 19 and checks revealed that the erosion was for about 25m (stretch) involving parts of the drain and slopes.

"I personally visited the site several times and also spoke to the residents to find a permanent solution to the issue," she said in a statement after visiting the area again today.

Zuraida also expressed confidence that the repairs would be completed as scheduled.

"I urge all residents in the constituency to contact me or any of the Ampang Parliament team members if there are any similar incidents or anything else that may worry them," she added.

Residents had earlier said that the erosion began after a major flooding incident which hit several parts of Selangor on Dec 18, 2021.
