SETIU: Flood victims are returning to their homes as a respite in the weather had reduced the swelling of major rivers.

As of 6pm, 16,078 evacuees from 4,127 families are still housed at 98 relief and the State Disaster Management Committee secretariat expects more victims to return home later today.

In Kemaman, 8,408 people from 2,114 families are still at 27 relief centres while in Hulu Terengganu, 3,041 people from 727 families remained at 19 centres.

In Dungun, 2,742 people from 781 families are still at 25 relief centres and in Setiu, 403 people from 117 families at 10 centres have yet to return home.

In Kuala Terengganu, 516 people from 131 families are still at five relief centres while in Kuala Nerus, 537 people from 149 families are at five centres.

In Besut, 431 people from 108 families are still at seven relief centres while the relief centre in Marang that became a temporary shelter to a family of five has been closed.

State Disaster Management Committee secretariat hopes the fine weather will continue to allow the flood victims to return home.
