KUALA LUMPUR: Despite losing two strategic positions in the party within a month, Kuala Nerus Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali remains calm and vowed to stay with PAS.

Speaking for the first time via a Facebook live session last night after being dropped from the post of PAS Syura Ulama Council Secretary he explained that it was not yet time for him to comment further on the matter which is considered to be an internal party issue.

On changing his political platform as provoked by certain parties, he said such a move did not arise and instead he will continue to serve the people in the Kuala Nerus Parliament constituency which he had represented for the past nine years.

"I have mentioned PAS as an Islamic party and I am committed to the struggles of PAS. I am calm with what has happened and it is not yet time for me to 'respond'.

"What is happening is an internal party matter that needs to be resolved in the party's way. Let the leadership manage what is happening.

"I will continue to speak in general terms about Islamic morality, policies on our struggle as well as general ideas that the party has agreed upon.

"For example, what I am fighting for is the unity of the ummah. That is the current approach and policy of the party," said the former Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister who is believed to be abroad.

Last Friday, PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang announced that Khairuddin was dropped from the post of Secretary of the Syura Ulama Council due to unspecified disciplinary issues.

Earlier on Jan 14, Abdul Hadi also announced the removal of Khairuddin from the PAS Central Committee, two months after being appointed.

Meanwhile, Khairuddin, who has been a member of the Majlis Syura Ulama since 2013, reminded party members of the decision by Pas' policy-making body in 2015 which outlined that the Islamic party must work for the unity of the ummah.

He said PAS members must understand that in the party's constitution, the Majlis Syura Ulama is the highest body that makes policies while the PAS Central Committee implements those policies.

"In 2015, the policy decision of the Majlis Syura Ulama is that there must be an agreement between the Muslim community, Malay -Muslim politics at all levels.

"Because the political power of Malay Muslims in the context of Malaysia is very important to ensure that Islam continues to be sovereign. Whatever strategy must be made so that Malays and Islam remain sovereign," he said.

He further explained that the policy was finally translated through the Muafakat Nasional Charter (MN) with Umno.
