KOTA MARUDU: A boy had to endure pain after a 'washer screw' he was wearing became stuck on the ring finger of his right hand last night.

In the 9pm incident, the eight-year-old was rushed to Kota Marudu Hospital before hospital staff contacted the Fire and Rescue Department for help.

Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue Station chief Rony Sikawan said the department received a call at 9.01pm and five rescuers were deployed to assist.

"Upon arrival, the fire brigade examined the victim and found that the ring finger on his right hand was swollen and had minor wounds."

"The team then cut and removed the object using the 'mini grinder' equipment," he said when contacted today.

According to him, the operation was successful and it took less than 40 minutes to cut the iron object.

"The operation ended at 10pm and the case was handed over to the hospital medical team." he said.
