SIK: A woman from Kedah suffered three hours of excruciating pain after a her ring was lodged tight on her left ring finger before desperately seeking assistance from the Sik Fire and Rescue Department, earlier today.

The 27-year-old woman sought help at the station at around 8am together with her husband to avoid further injury.Sik Fire and Rescue Department chief Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said it took his team approximately five minutes to carefully cut through the ring using specialised equipment.

"Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries but experienced swelling on her ring finger," he said when contacted today.

Zulkhairi also issued a reminder for the public, especially women, to exercise caution when wearing accessories.

He said the incident served as a lesson of the potential dangers associated with wearing ill-fitting or tightly secured jewellery.
