KUALA LUMPUR: Tasputra Perkim, in collaboration with the Latter-Day Saints Charities, is organising a wheelchair project for the underprivileged at their facility tomorrow.

Tasputra Perkim chairman Elahe Norman said the project aims to provide children and adults with free and suitably measured wheelchairs according to the recipient's size, as well as advice on how to use the wheelchair for better mobility.

Tasputra Perkim volunteer and consultant physiotherapist Serenade Sarang said that they have been able to reach disabled B40 groups and refugees that are in dire need of help to assist them in improving their mobility and quality of life as the project's objective.

Besides that, the project is also done as an appreciation towards LDS Charities that has donated the wheelchairs for this cause.

In order to receive a wheelchair, the recipients would need to be present during the event but Tasputra Perkim also does hospital visits for those who find it difficult to attend the programme.

The organisation will continue to follow-up with old recipients after the duration of two months to receive feedback on their experience using the given wheelchair.

The partners on this project are International Medical University (IMU), Rotary District 3300 and Beautiful Gate Foundation, who have been properly trained by LDS Charities to be of service to the recipients.

Tasputra Perkim also wishes to continue reaching out to patients from the B40 group and people with long-term physical disabilities or chronic ill conditions that could use this project's aid. Those who are interested are encouraged to contact them at 03-4251 6100 or 011-2102 5515 for further assistance.
