KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) today organised a project to raise education funds for the visually-impaired in collaboration with Six Sense Creative at Kompleks MAB in Brickfields today.

The project is a strategy to establish a platform for the sole purpose of raising funds to educate and train the visually-impaired to meet the demands of IT in daily living and economics.

"We keep education as the primary focus so that the blind can get to live a normal life. With education they also can get proper employment," said MAB chief executive officer George Thomas.

According to Thomas, the funds raised would be used as scholarships for tertiary education.

"Project Mata Hatiku" is a range of hijab and shawls designed and produced in Malaysia, and the designs feature Malaysian flora and fauna.

The hijab and shawls are made of chiffon-georgette with 30 various designs available for consumers to choose from. More designs will be introduced during Ramadan.

For each purchase of hijab and shawl, 15 per cent of the proceeds will go to MAB's education fund.

MAB and Six Sense Creative hope to work hand in hand to create social media awareness and make Mata Hatiku accessible to as many people as possible.
