KOTA SAMARAHAN: A helicopter transporting caretaker Chief Minister Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg and his entourage made an emergency landing at the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) marching field about 2pm today.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail, who confirmed the incident, said the emergency landing was made following bad weather and heavy rain in the area.
"A helicopter carrying the caretaker chief minister and several others landed at the Unimas marching field because of bad weather.
"However, no untoward incidents were reported and the caretaker chief minister continued his journey on land," he said when contacted.
It is understood that Abang Johari was on his way back to Kuching after observing the voting process in Gedong, where he is contesting.
