KUALA LUMPUR: Police received two reports in Perak and Putrajaya respectively against anti-vaccination groups for causing public nuisance.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said investigation for a report lodged in Perak has been completed as per instructed by the deputy public prosecutor.
"For the case in Putrajaya, we are waiting for a report from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further action.
"The case is being investigated under Section 504 and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code," he said today.
Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that anti-vaccination groups will not escape the law over their actions.
He said that this was not due to them being anti-vaccine advocates, but for spreading fake news.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had also hoped that the authorities would expedite investigations and prosecutions against anti-vaccination groups.
The Health Ministry had also lodged reports against several anti-vaccine groups.
However, despite these warnings, such groups continuously spread misinformation on Covid-19 vaccines while threatening efforts in public health.
