KUALA LUMPUR: Data shared by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supple Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) showed that the vaccination rate involving those fully inoculated in Sabah is still the lowest compared to other states at 54.4 per cent.

However, with regard to daily vaccination rate, Sabah saw the highest first dose administered yesterday with 35,927 followed by Johor at 7,459 doses.

Perak comes in third at 5,910 doses, followed by Penang at 5,612 doses.

It was previously reported that Sabah, Johor, Perak and Penang were among the six states with the lowest vaccination rates under the National Immunisation Programme (NIP).

A total 1,969 doses and 619 doses were administered yesterday for first dose recipients in Kelantan and Terengganu respectively, which are the other two states with low vaccination rates.

Early this month, the vaccination rates for these states were below 50 per cent.

This compelled the government to accelerate the NIP and ensure the vaccination rate for these states surpassed 50 per cent of its adult population.

As of Sept 18, the data showed more than 50 per cent of the adult population at these six states have been fully vaccinated.

A total 56.6 per cent of the adult population in Kelantan have been fully vaccinated while the vaccination rate involving adults in Perak and Pahang stood at 59.8 per cent and 60.4 per cent respectively.

Kedah, which is the home of the country's first travel bubble project - Langkawi, has 60.6 per cent of its adult population fully vaccinated as of Sept 18.
