KUALA LUMPUR: The Compliance Operation Task Force ordered 10 factories, 39 business premises and three construction sites to close down yesterday for failing to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, in a statement today, said the task force inspected 1,975 factories, 14,782 business premises, 979 construction sites and 283 workers' hostel yesterday.

The task force, he said, conducted 85,520 inspections and snap checks yesterday to monitor and enforce SOP compliance throughout the country.

The inspections led to 330 individuals being slapped with compounds while another 25 remanded for flouting the SOP.

Under Op Benteng, Hishammuddin said the authorities arrested 17 illegal entrants and seized 25 land vehicles yesterday.

A total of 890 roadblocks were also mounted nationwide, he said.

On mandatory quarantine measures, he said, 614 individuals returned from overseas yesterday and had been instructed to undergo quarantine at 83 hotels and 11 public training institutes.

The Fire and Rescue Department together with local authorities, he said, conducted 262 sanitisation operations yesterday at 97 red zones, two orange zones and one yellow zone.

Hishammuddin also gave his assurances that the country's food supply is stable and adequate following the checks conducted by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry yesterday.

The ministry, he said, conducted 822 daily checks involving 10 essential items on 637 retailers, 154 wholesalers and 31 manufacturers.

All 1,721 premises inspected by the ministry yesterday were found to be adhering to the SOP, he added.
