KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed tonight apologised for violating the standard operating procedures under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan.

In a statement issued by his office, it stated that the minister had dropped by a cafè at Kampung Kalai in Jeli at 5.30pm last Saturday to see how its 26-year-old owner was managing business under MCO 3.0.

"The young cafè owner fully utilised social media to promote his western cuisine menu.

"Datuk Seri Mustapa admitted to being at the cafè and was served a meal at the Alfath Cafe last Saturday.

"Following pictures of him being at the cafè going viral, Jeli district police chief had contacted him to inform him that an investigation paper had been opened into the matter,'" said the statement.

It said the minister had apologised for breaching the SOP and would leave it to the police to take the next course of action.
