KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government will lodge a police report over claims that members of its administration were involved in "queue-jumping" to receive Covid-19 vaccinations ahead of the state's healthcare frontliners.

State Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said the claims had tarnished the state's image as an Islamic administration.

"I will be lodging the police report on behalf of the state government to enable the police to conduct a thorough investigation.

"This is a serious issue. We believe the false claims have tarnished our image," he told reporters at his office today.

The state government recently denied claims that 200 people from the state secretary's office had jumped queue to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

The issue was raised after a Twitter user highlighted claims that nurses and other healthcare workers listed as early recipients of the vaccine had to make way for the group.

In response, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is coordinating the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, pledged to investigate the claims and urged whistleblowers to inform him directly if they have evidence of such cases.
